Correctional policies can strengthen the role of families, heal
wounds and reconcile differences to allow the family to get stronger
and be better prepared to face the challenges of the individualís
transition from prison to home.
God created the family to serve as the basic unit of strength in our
society. While not every family is healthy and functional, the
overwhelming majority of families have shown a lot of courage for a
returning offender to draw on. It is worth making a sustained effort
to repair and reconcile family members during incarceration so that
the offender can benefit from a spiritual, healthy, and functional
family to help him / her survive the first difficult steps from
prison to freedom.
Through our Prison Ministry program, family members have become the
most reliable help for returning prisoners and the greatest
contribution to their success.
